ENVIRON's sun protection philosophy is based on RAD: "R(eflect) - A(bsorb) - (D)efend" - reflecting harmful UV rays away from the skin, absorbing UV rays that can penetrate the skin, and defending against harmful free radicals.
RAD SHIELD contains, among other active ingredients, the physical UV filters titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. These act as broad-spectrum filters, ensuring that light is reflected and scattered without reaching the skin. A high dose of protective antioxidants prevents damage from free radicals caused by daily environmental stress and UV exposure. ENVIRON combines as many different antioxidants as possible; the combination of vitamin C, vitamin E, and beta-carotene is particularly effective.

To prevent the unsightly "streak effect," ENVIRON has, for the first time, utilized nanotechnology in its new RAD SHIELD. This technology breaks down the minerals titanium dioxide and zinc oxide into microscopically small particles (nanoparticles), making them transparent. There's good reason why ENVIRON is only now implementing this technology: Relevant studies confirm that titanium dioxide and zinc oxide nanoparticles do not penetrate beyond the outermost layer of healthy skin and are therefore harmless. The EU Commission's Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS) has also assessed zinc and titanium dioxide in nano form as safe.
